Michael Marquardt has joined investor-services firm IQ-EQ as Asia regional CEO.

He is a veteran chief operating officer in Asia Pacific. For the past three years he has served as COO at Zerobridge Capital, a Hong Kong-based specialist investor in distressed debt, private debt, and special situations.

From 2009 to 2017 he was BlackRock’s regional COO. He has also served as Barclays’s COO for Japan, a role that stemmed from having worked at Barclays Global Investors in San Francisco. (BGI was acquired by BlackRock in 2009.)

IQ-EQ administers to private-equity firms, fund managers, family offices, and corporations, providing compliance, administration, asset and advisory services. It has over $500 billion of client assets under administration.

Mainland China is the next business priority. The firm has recently opened offices in Shenzhen and Shanghai. It also has offices in Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

IQ-EQ has also recently hired other senior executives in the region, including Andrew Ho as head of private wealth in Singapore, and a trio of business development directors: Clare Chang in Hong Kong, Goldie Ko in Shanghai, and Arlen Yuan in Shenzhen.
